Waking Up the Boss
Unleashing Self-Aware Leadership
Most leaders don't realize when they've become the problem. When we shift into self-focused mode—what Arbinger calls an "inward mindset"—we stop seeing colleagues, direct reports, and even family members as people with their own challenges and goals. Instead, they become objects: vehicles to use, obstacles to blame, or irrelevancies to ignore.
This webinar reveals how self-betrayal works—the moment we ignore an impulse to help someone, we immediately begin justifying ourselves and distorting how we see others. We become addicted to being right, even at the cost of our relationships and results. The inward version of us seeks justification more than success or happiness.
Through interactive exercises and real-world examples from a military surgeon and a high school principal, participants learn to recognize their personal "red flags" and identify which of four inward mindset styles they default to under pressure. The session culminates with a powerful visual demonstration: when people learn to see differently, their performance transforms—without learning a single new technique.
