In-person facilitated session
The Transforming Conflict Facilitator Training explores how it is that we as human beings separate ourselves from each other, why, when we do separate, we believe it is the fault of others, how we therefore condemn ourselves to lingering divisions and resentment, and how this estrangement can be overcome—whether between individuals, between groups, or between peoples.
Participants are led through a core framework and application rooted in Arbinger’s theoretical approach to transforming conflict. The training is designed to both deepen one’s understanding of Arbinger’s approach to conflict and to equip facilitators with the tools they need to become effective in helping others transform conflicts at home, in organizations, and communities.
The training begins by defining conflict and conflict work through an Arbinger lens. It discusses the necessity of approaching conflict at a cultural level in order to positively influence structural aspects of organizations. The training covers stages of conflict, what they look like, and how they are typically dealt with. This includes conflict management, conflict transformation, conflict resolution and reconciliation. Participants will focus on changing standard processes and assumed order by taking a different approach in conflict work and bringing a new clarity to the process in surprising and helpful ways.
With this knowledge, facilitators are prepared to successfully apply Arbinger’s approach in a variety of conflict situations. Facilitators learn how to assess conflict, build powerful out of the box space between the parties, how to reframe narratives and how to work in situations ranging from one-on-one to large groups. Upon completing the three-day training, participants are certified to deliver the 1-Day Conflict Course within their organizations.
