Jim Ferrell, one of Arbinger’s founding members and managing partner, together with Dr. Cobus Pienaar (Managing Director of The Arbinger Institute in South Africa), have authored a chapter in the long awaited and acclaimed new leadership book, entitled, Leadership: Perspectives from the Front Line.
There was an air of excitement and anticipation as the long-awaited book was launched at the leadership conference hosted by Knowledge Resources in Johannesburg in October. During the conference, authors and contributors to the book presented an overview of the aspect of leadership covered in their specific chapters as well as hosting a brief Q & A session thereafter.
The leadership tome with its 89 contributors, 56 chapters, 1000+ pages and a foreword from Advocate Thuli Madonsela addresses leadership from every possible angle, and Arbinger’s contribution to the leadership conversation in this book is both valuable and insightful.
Leadership: Perspectives from the Front Line aims to remedy the existing gap in the current leadership literature by offering an integrated and holistic strategic leadership value chain perspective on leadership as a critical strategic capability and intervention.
The book aspires to address the leadership demands, challenges, requirements and dynamics faced by organisations across the total strategic leadership value chain. What sets this book apart, is that its deals with leadership in practice in organisations from a well-grounded, research and evidence-based perspective. Not only does the book provide an insightful context for the wide-ranging spheres of leadership in society today, it also offers insights from South Africa’s top leaders as well as practical tools that readers can implement in their specific areas of practice.
The Arbinger Institute’s chapter in the book focuses on the section that deals with “Ways of Understanding Leadership”. The chapter highlights the Arbinger Changing Mindset model, which illustrates how mindset impacts on behaviour and, eventually, the collective results in any organisation.
Arbinger’s Changing Mindset model is a significant contribution to the conversation on Leadership and the Arbinger Institute is a proud contributor to the book Leadership: Perspectives from the Front Line together with some of SA’s top institutions.
